LineageOS on the Essential PH-1 phone

LineageOS is an alternate version of the Android operating system for your phone. Rather than building it yourself the first time, I recommend you use the image provided by invisblek). However, his image includes Google apps by default. If you want to experience life without Google's apps you will have to build LineageOS yourself. If you want to use Google apps, then use get LineageOS from here. You can still use my instructions to install.

WARNING: Moving from stock Android to LineageOS (including builds from various sources that use different build keys!) or back again will require restoring your phone to factory settings.
YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR DATA. YOU MUST COPY ANYTHING YOU VALUE OFF OF THE PHONE.

I'll be leaving these notes and instructions up for now, but I will be moving to the official builds now.

Use my instructions for installing, but once you have it installed it should auto update. Back up your data because the entire phone will need to be wiped!

Hardware recommendations:

• A quality USB cable. The manufacturer recommends you do not use the cable provided with your phone for anything other than charging.
• The Essential PH-1 does not have a headphone jack so in my car I use this bluetooth adapter to plug into my audio system.
• I use these bluetooth headphones.
• I also recommend this OTG adapter for connecting USB devices to your phone.

Fixing USB audio

The most frustrating part of USB audio (on any device) is the volume steps where one it too quiet and another is too loud. However, on Android it is possible to give yourself two separate audio controls (one for the phone and one for the headphones).

Google's camera software works with the PH-1 but only if you have Google Play Services installed.
